Wow, it’s been a while.

So a few days ago I finally had a chance to try durian fruit.
I’ve heard that the fruit itself stinks. People have described the smell as rotting fruit or meat and garbage. As soon as I saw the fruit at home I took a whiff.
It didn’t smell like anything…
I was slightly disappointed because the way people talk about it, I thought it would be a lot worse. When we finally sliced the fruit open, that’s when I smelt it.
However I will say that the smell isn’t as bad as people claim it to be. It might be because we bought the fruit from our local supermarket, and not from some market in a tropical asian country that might have made the smell a little more subdued. But it did smell.
I wouldn’t really describe as something rotten, but it does have that few-days-old-kinda-bruised-fruit smell. I do agree with the garbage smell though, kinda thick and acidic. It also tastes exactly like how it smells. It doesn’t taste bad, but, like I said, it’s like an ageing bruised fruit. Though I wouldn’t be able to eat it all.
